Nature & Environment Day Camp
Date: July 26 – July 30, 2021
Time: 9:00am – 3:00pm
Location: Camp Herms, El Cerrito, CA (map)
Cost: $300 + $50 / week for merit badge work
Registration: GGAC Event Site
Open to BSA Scouts (boys and girls) ages 11-17 years.
The day camp is centered at Camp Herms and nearby East Bay Regional Park lands. A crew of up to 12 Scouts will investigate the Wildcat Creek watershed and see for themselves how biotic and abiotic forces shape and change the watershed’s ecology. This is an in-depth and hands-on way to learn from export University of California instructors how ecological science is done. Scouts will study insects, birds, plants, animals, water courses, micro-climates, soils, and so much more.
Participants can complete the requirements for the Nature, Soil and Water Conservation, Fish and Wildlife Management, and the Environmental Science merit badges. Scouts with the Citizenship in the World merit badge may earn the World Conservation Award. Motivated Scouts may earn the Scout Naturalist Award.
Participants will be responsible for their own meals. Merit badge work may be completed with approved counselors from 3:00-5:00 M-F with a $50/week fee.
Click here to register. BSA and county COVID-19 safety requirements will be strictly observed.
