Our charter organization, the Kiwanis, will be helping with this year’s Youth 2 Youth conference on Saturday, March 4. This annual conference is for middle school students of the San Ramon Valley and Castro Valley school districts. The Kiwanis will be serving breakfast for counselors and staff before the conference starts and Troop 805 has volunteered to help with this task as this is one of the ways we payback the Kiwanis for their support of our troop.

We need 6-8 scouts to help and will take scouts first come first served. All scouts of the troop are eligible to help with this outing. Also, if you are an Order of the Arrow member we are still looking for a Senior Patrol Leader for the outing.

Contact Mr Matsunaga (925-838-1617) if you have questions.

This project is an annual National BSA service project where non-perishable foods are collected for the local food banks. We will go door-to-door with informational flyers requesting donations on Saturday November 14th, and collect and deliver the donations to a central point at the LDS church in Danville on Saturday November 21st. Scouts may choose to participate on either or both days.

This is a great event to bring a friend (1st class requirement 10). Scouts will also earn service hours for rank advancement.

Since our assigned area is large and spread out (roughly 1.5 sq. miles with over 1300 houses), we will need many scouts and drivers to help on both days. Parents who can drive, please fill out the information especially providing your cell phone number.

** Donut breakfast will be provided for participating scouts & parent drivers. **

Contact Mrs. Michelle Marge if you have questions.

Each year, Kiwanis clubs around the world join in a day of service which is called “Kiwanis One Day”. It’s a global effort, but it’s made of personal commitments. Kiwanis One Day consists of the involvement of communities around the world and results in an international spirit of service that inspires people worldwide.

For their 2016 One Day service project, Kiwanis Club of San Ramon Valley (our troop sponsor) is sponsoring a project that involve working on a year-round archery range, building a retaining wall, and doing trail maintenance at a local scout camp. This project is “conservation-related” and satisfies the new 2016 service project requirements for Life Scout rank.

Kiwanis will provide snacks and drinks. Scouts need to bring a bag lunch.

Kiwanis will provide most tools, but bring work gloves. Prior to outing, OSPL will notify participants if there are any other tools needed. Make sure those tools are labeled with your name.

Parents are invited (and encouraged) to participate in this service project too, but must have completed Youth Protection training.

Drivers needed to drive scouts to and from event.

Scouts who can only do a half day (morning or afternoon) must arrange for their own transportation and must notify me prior to the outing. Scouts must also participate a minimum of 2 hours if doing the half day option.

Contact Mr Screechfield (925-570-1999) for questions.

Fifteen years ago on September 11, 2001, thousands of people lost their lives in one of the most infamous attacks on America. We will honor & remember them during San Ramon Valley’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony. All uniformed scouts and leaders are invited to participate in this meaningful patriotic ceremony. This event will feature prominent guest speakers, hundreds of Scouts with an array of American Flags, joint Police and Fire Department Honor Guard and Pipes and Drums, the Monte Vista High Chamber Choir, White Wings Dove Release, and many other patriotic participants. The guest speaker is Justin Clark, whose uncle, Victor Saracini was the pilot of Flight 175 when terrorists crashed the plane into the South Tower of the World Trade Center. All are welcome to attend the ceremony and stay for ice cream afterward.

Contact Mr Laubach (925-768-4006) for questions.
