Capitol Tour

Location: Sacramento, CA
Cost:
– Scouts: $20 round trip (A great deal!!), plus any spending money.
– Adults: $25 round trip
Attire: Class A
Required: Permission slip – due December 2nd

A train trip to Sacramento to tour the State Capitol, visit historic Old Sacramento and explore the Train Museum! We will travel by train (Amtrak) on Saturday December 13th, returning on the same day.

This trip satisfies requirements 2a (touring the Capitol) and 2b (visiting a Historical Landmark) for the Eagle-required Citizen in the Nation Merit Badgetake advantage of this trip, as we may not return for a few years!

Parents who can drive to/from the Amtrak station in Martinez, CA, please fill out the information especially giving us your cell phone number.

Note: Due to the popularity of this outing, parents and sibling participation may be limited. Once we have final numbers, we will determine how many can participate.

Important Dates:

12/13 (Sa) 07:30am – Meet at Sycamore Park and Ride, depart 07:45am
12/13 (Sa) 06:30pm – Return to Sycamore Park and Ride (approx.)

Miniature Golf

Location: Golden Tee Golfland, 2533 Castro Valley Blvd, Castro Valley CA
Cost: $15 (adults and scouts) to cover cost of pizza, 1 game of golf and a few tokens to play arcade games.
Attire: Class A

An opportunity for fun and patrol competition at miniature golf. We will be inviting Webelos to join us on this outing. This is a chance to help recruitment efforts and distinguish Troop 805 from other troops…

(Cancelled) Las Trampas Rocky Ridge Hike

Cost: $0 (no charge)
Attire: Class B troop t-shirt, hiking clothes & boots – no open toe shoes
Required: Permission slip – due October 28th at PLC or October 31st by email

Hello Troop 805!

The first hike of the new planning year is here! This will be a nice 5-mile local hike from the Bollinger Canyon Staging Area parking lot following the trail up to the Rocky Ridge in the Las Trampas Regional Wilderness, out to where the trail merges with the Del Amigo Trail before turning and looping back to the staging area.

Bring:

  • day pack
  • 2 liters of water
  • trail food (GORP, etc.)
  • rain gear
  • appropriate clothes for the weather
  • sunscreen
  • bag lunch for the late/end of the hike

Webelos Open House

Location: Sycamore Valley Elementary School (map)

Webelos are invited to join us for an evening of fun as our scouts decorate their CO2 race cars for their upcoming race. We will also hold a special informational meeting for parents to learn more about our troop. This is a great opportunity to see if our troop is the right fit for your scout. We hope to see you there!

KTVU Television Station Tour

Location: KTVU television station at Jack London Square in Oakland
Meet: 10AM Sycamore Park and Ride
Return: 2-2:30PM Scouts will be dropped off at their homes

Troop 805,

We have the opportunity for a private tour of KTVU television station at Jack London Square in Oakland. [everyone should now respond, “oo aw special!!!”] This includes watching a live broadcast of the noon time news. [everyone should now respond, “oo aw extra special!!!”]  Space is very limited!  We have room for one more adult/driver and nine (9) scouts. This tour is designed for scouts working on their Moviemaking Merit Badge.

Eat your lunch before or after the event. You may bring a snack to be eaten in the car.

Requirements:

  1. Turn in your permission slip as soon as possible. Your name will be added to the “pending approval” list.
  2. BEFORE scouts are approved to go, you MUST:
    1. Complete Moviemaking MB requirements 1, 2a, 2b, 2c, and 4. These must be written out on your MB worksheet with sufficiently detailed answers.
    2. In addition, you must have STARTED requirement #2d by planning your video project. This includes giving it some serious thought AND writing your plans down. However, it is NOT necessary to have completed the video project before going on the tour.
    3. Meet with Mr. Mahoney briefly to confirm that the above has been done. You will then be approved to go (based on first come, first serve).
  3. Any remaining openings may be filled by scouts that have already completed their Cinematography or Moviemaking Merit Badge.

Scouting for Food

SFFDates:
– November 8 (Saturday) – 11AM – 1PM – Drop off Door Hangers
– November 15 (Saturday) – 11AM – 1PM – Pick up Food
Meet: 190 Wood Ranch Circle, Danville, CA (Wood Ranch Club House)
Return: Scouts will be dropped off at home about one-half hour after the event
Cost: $0 (no charge)
Attire: Class A
Required: Permission slip due November 4th

This project is an annual National BSA service project where non-perishable foods are collected for the local food banks. We will to go door-to-door with informational flyers requesting donations on Saturday November 8th, and collect and deliver the donations to a central point at the LDS church at Sycamore and Old Orchard on Saturday November 15th. Scouts may choose to participate in either (or both) days. Scouts do earn service hours for rank advancement.

Since our assigned areas tend to be fairly large we will need drivers to help on both days. Parents who can drive, please fill out the information especially giving me your cell phone number.
