Escape Room Adventure

Date: Saturday, March 14, 2020
Location: Limitless Escape Games in Livermore
Depart: Meet at Sycamore Park and Ride at 9:15 AM
Return: Drivers will return scouts at home at around 11:30 AM
Attire: Class A uniform
Cost: $25 per person, parents and siblings welcome
Required: Signed Permission slip turned in by 3/10/2020

Come participate in a real-life escape room adventure! You and your team will work together to uncover clues, solve puzzles, and hopefully escape the room within 60 minutes! There is no special knowledge required to play, just be curious, observant and think outside of the box! Limitless Escape Games has four different themed rooms to choose from: 1) Sherlock Holmes, 2) Pirate Adventure, 3) Bank Heist, and 4) Hot Seat. If you have already done an event with Limitless Escape Games and want to be placed in a different room, please indicate so on the comments section during signup. Scouts working on First Class, requirement #10 can bring a friend!

Borges Ranch Cooking Camp Out

Date: Saturday, February 22 to Sunday, February 23, 2020
Location: Borges Ranch – Hanna Grove area Walnut Creek
Depart: Meet at Sycamore Park & Ride on Saturday, 9:30 am. Leave promptly at 10:00 am
Pick Up: Borges Ranch, 11:00am, Sunday
Attire: Class A uniform to travel to and from campgrounds
Bring: Rain gear, sleeping bag and pad, 10 essentials
Cost: $35 (for scouts and adults) to cover the campsite and food
Required: Signed Permission slip turned in by 2/11/2020

Inspired by world famous Guy Ferrari’s Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, this one night camp out will give scouts the chance to learn to cook with Dutch Ovens and hone their fire building skills. Cooks will plan their own food for Saturday LUNCH, DINNER, and Sunday BREAKFAST.

Climbing Merit Badge Session [Postponed]

Date: Sunday, January 26, 2020 9:00am to 4:00pm
Depart: At 8:30am from the Sycamore Park & Ride (Return 4:30pm)
Location: BSA San Francisco Bay Area Council’s The Rock (1001 Davis Street, San Leandro)
Attire: Class B, Pants or Long Shorts, Closed Toe Shoes or Climbing Shoes
Bring: Water Bottle
Cost: $45 (includes $40 Merit Badge Session + $5 Lunch)

Activity is limited to 12 scouts!

You’ll be climbing the walls at this activity! Join the troop at BSA San Francisco Bay Area Council’s The Rock for a private Climbing Merit Badge session with BSA Staff. The Rock is a 32-foot natural looking rock with numerous routes to climb. Climbing routes vary in difficulty so everyone can have fun no matter what their experience level is.

The Climbing Merit Badge requires at least 6 hours of time to complete requirements, about 3 of which are classroom safety learning and knots and about 3 (or more) hours on practical skills in the Rock climbing area. Join Mr. Kelly for a Knots Corner at the January 21st Troop Meeting).

Monterey Bay Aquarium

Date: Saturday, January 11, 2020
Location: Monterey Bay Aquarium, 886 Cannery Row, Monterey
Meet: 6:00am @Sycamore Valley Park & Ride – Depart 6:15am
Return: 8-9pm @Sycamore Valley Park & Ride; we’ll call parents when we’re 45 mins from P&R
Cost:  $45 for scouts
Attire: Class A uniform, scout pants, and closed-toe shoes

Spend a day with sea creatures to celebrate our theme “By Land or By Sea”. Enjoy informative classes, watch feeding sessions, and just have fun exploring.

Please bring the following:

  • Food: Breakfast in the car, bag lunch, and money for dinner stop on the way home ($15)
  • Water Bottle
  • Spending money at parents’ discretion. Please note scouts are responsible for their own items.

K1 Troop Grand Prix & Traffic Safety MB

Date: December 21, 2019, Saturday
Time: 9:30am to 12:30pm
Drop off and pick up: At K1 Speed Go Kart6400 Sierra Ct Suite B, Dublin
Cost: $65
Attire: Class B and closed-toe shoes
Required: Signed Permission slip turned in by 12/10 and Signed Waiver brought with you on 12/21

We will start the day at 9:30am at K1 Speed in Dublin with a Merit Badge class on Traffic Safety, offered by California Highway Patrol Officer Hahn who will review all of the elements required to complete the Traffic Safety Merit Badge and will sign off at the end on blue cards for Scouts who participate. Note that Requirements #2 and #3 are required as homework for sign off at the MB session with Officer Hahn.

Following the Traffic Safety Merit Badge session, scouts will participate in a K1 Speed Grand Prix which includes 3 races in high performance go karts. Racing will be done by 12:30pm. Please plan to drop off and pick up your scouts at K1 Speed in Dublin.

Scouts can choose to participate in the Merit Badge Clinic and/or the Troop Grand Prix. The Merit Badge session from 9:30am-11:00am is free to attend. The Grand Prix from 11:00am-12:30pm is $65/scout. There are no age restrictions for participating in either activity. If only participating in the Merit Badge session, please include that in the Comments field when you RSVP.

Alameda Naval Air Museum – Pearl Harbor Anniversary

In honor of Pearl Harbor Day, join Troop 805 for a visit to the Alameda Naval Air Museum to commemorate the 78th Anniversary of Japan’s invasion of Pearl Harbor. The Alameda Naval Air Station has a remarkable history. It was one of the largest, most complete Naval Air Stations in the world. There will be photo displays and models of U.S. and Japanese airplanes, including famous ships, boats, the Blue Angels, USS Enterprise, Battle of Midway, Women in Service and the Coast Board. Exhibits are on two floors.  This is also an opportunity to work towards your American Heritage Merit Badge!
