Meet: 10:00am @ Sycamore Park & Ride on Friday
Return: Scouts will be dropped off at home approximately 3pm Sunday
Cost: $35 adults and scouts (includes campsite fees & transportation)
Attire: Class B (for hiking)
Prerequisites: Scouts must have completed a T805 introduction to backpacking trip of at least 6 miles round trip
Required: Permission slip due July 12
Bring:
– Bag lunch for Friday
– $10 for lunch on return trip
– Appropriate backpacking clothes and gears
– Save room to pack shared equipment (tents, stoves, fuel) and food

Sea Kayaking @ Elkhorn Slough

Uniform:  Arrive in Class A uniform
Cost: $110
Bring: Bag dinner for Friday, 10 essentials, mess kit, $10 for Sunday lunch, swim suit, water shoes, sun protection gear
Required: Permission slip and Monterey Bay Kayaks liability form due May 10th

The Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve is an expansive tidal wetland and a rare eco-system with a stunning diversity of marine life. It is an important habitat for over 300 species of birds, many marine invertebrates, fish, and marine mammals such as harbor seals, sea lions and the southern sea otter, a threatened species.

We will camp at Youth Overnight Area of Royal Oaks Park on Friday night, then head to Moss Landing (15 min driving) on Saturday morning, have a 3-hour private kayaking tour at Elkhorn Slough, don’t forget to bring sun protection gear.

Portola Redwood State Park

We are in for a treat. Portola Redwoods State Park is on a ridgetop that drops down into a deeply shaded redwood forest. There are beautiful tall redwood trees, thick ferns, waterfalls, and great hiking trails along the Pescadero creek. We will be camping Friday night to Sunday. The campsite is a small hike from the cars – we will be doing a moderate hike (Slate Creek Trail) on Saturday – this hike will take us through the redwoods to the Page Mill site. This is opened to all scouts – it’s a great weekend to enjoy the beauty of coastal California!

NOTE: If you are doing the cooking MB, please make sure you talk with your counselor ASAP. You must have an approved menu before attending this outing. All 1st class and 2nd class cooking menus must be approved by me.

Meridian District Camporee 2016

powwowDate: April 29 – May 1 (Friday – Sunday)
Place: Rancho Los Mochos Scout Camp (map) – 18 miles SE of Livermore, CA
Cost: $50 for scouts or adults.  No refunds.
Attire: Class A. All other clothing, including hats, must either have a scouting logo or plain. No team, insignia or camouflage clothing.
Bring: Bag dinner for Friday, snacks for Saturday
Required: Permission Slip, Parental Firearm Permission Form

Spring is coming and with spring every year, we have Camporee. ALL SCOUTS are encouraged to attend. There is something for EVERYONE.

Camporee is a weekend overnight outing for your scouts. They spend late Friday, Saturday and parts of Sunday at Los Mochos participating in friendly competition with other troops, play lots of games, shooting, archery, and friendly cooking competition. All troops in our area participates at Camporee!

Important Dates:
03/22 (Tue) – Permission slip, Firearm permission slip, and payment due at Troop meeting
04/29 (Fri) 4 pm – Meet at Sycamore Park and Ride
05/01 (Sun) 12 pm – Drivers pick up Scouts at Los Mochos
05/01 (Sun) 1 to 2pm – Scouts arrive back at Sycamore Park and Ride
