Fall Scout Skills Overnight @ Mt Diablo

Pick up:
– Saturday 12:30pm @ Barbecue Terrace Group Campsite OR
– Saturday 2:00pm above Barbecue Terrace Group Campsite if participating in 5-mile hike
Cost: $15

– Bag dinner for Friday
– 10 essentials, mess kit

Calling all Scouts working on rank advancement! This 1 night event will offer Scouts who are working on Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class opportunity to work on skills not covered during the Spring Scout Skills event. ALSO, it will afford more senior scouts opportunity to earn camping nights credit as well as teaching using EDGE (useful for Star Scouts!) Come join us for a fun Fall overnight with the troop at our very own local Mt.Diablo. The view from Barbecue Terrace is to die for. Come enjoy!

Black Diamond Mines

HazelAtlasDates: Saturday to Sunday, October 10-11, 2015
Meet: Saturday 8AM @ Sycamore Park & Ride
Return: Sunday ~12PM @ Sycamore Park & Ride
Cost: $35 – includes group campsite and guided tour of mines
Attire: Class A
Bring:
– Sack lunch for Saturday
– Light backpacks for tour & hike
Remarks: 
– This outing limits to 35 participants
– No water available at campsite

The Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve is a 6,000-acre park located north of Mount Diablo in Contra Costa County, California under the administration of the East Bay Regional Park District. This is a one night camping with tour of the Hazel-Atlas mines and hike around the remains of twelve coal mines and the sites of five long-gone coal mining towns.

Fages II Hike

Meet: 5:45am @ Sycamore Park and Ride
Drop Off: ~8pm. Scouts will be dropped off at their homes
Cost: $15 includes lunch and patch
Attire: Class B (not cotton) hiking shirt, hiking pants/shorts, sturdy hiking boots, and some form of headgear (broad brimmed hat preferred).
Prerequisite:
– 12 years or older, and
– Must have completed a 10 mile day hike/backpacking trip with Troop 805
Required:
– Scouts: Permission slip due Tuesday May 26th
– Scouts & Adults: BSA Annual Health & Medical Form (Parts A, B, & C)
Bring: Daypack, minimum 2 liters of water, trail food (GORP etc.), compass, rain gear, appropriate clothes for the weather and sunscreen.

A challenging 22 mile one day hike through scenic Wildcat Canyon and Tilden Parks. The start and end of hike will be at Camp Herms in the El Cerrito hills. This is a suggested training event for scouts going on the 50 miler in August. This hike will also be open to any scout 12 years or older who has completed a 10 mile day hike/backpacking trip with Troop 805.

Easy Hike at Briones

BrionesDate: January 10th (Saturday)
Time: 7:45am – 1:30pm
Location: Briones Regional Park (map)
Cost: Free
Attire: Class B
Required: Permission slip. Due January 6th.

Lets kick off 2015 with a fun and easy 5 mile hike in beautiful Briones Regional Park. This is an easy hike. However as scouts you should be prepared with proper shoes, attire, sun protection and water. Ideally you should have your 10 essentials and a day pack and carry water. Remember January is rainy season for us.

Important Dates:

01/06 (Tu) 07:00pm – Permission slip due at Troop meeting
01/10 (Sa) 07:45am – Meet at Sycamore Park and Ride, depart 08:00am
01/10 (Sa) 12:30pm – Scouts will be dropped off at home between 12:30 and 1:30 pm. Boys will call about one-half hour before expected arrival time.

Meet & Return at: Bollinger Canyon Staging Area parking lot – at the end of Bollinger Canyon Road (go north on Bollinger Canyon Road from Crow Canyon Road, west of I-680) (map)
Cost: $0 (no charge)
Attire: Class B troop t-shirt, hiking clothes & boots – no open toe shoes
Required: Permission slip – due October 28th at PLC or October 31st by email

Hello Troop 805!

The first hike of the new planning year is here! This will be a nice 5-mile local hike from the Bollinger Canyon Staging Area parking lot following the trail up to the Rocky Ridge in the Las Trampas Regional Wilderness, out to where the trail merges with the Del Amigo Trail before turning and looping back to the staging area.

Bring:

  • day pack
  • 2 liters of water
  • trail food (GORP, etc.)
  • rain gear
  • appropriate clothes for the weather
  • sunscreen
  • bag lunch for the late/end of the hike
