Kiwanis Service Project – Youth-2-Youth Conference

y2yDate: March 4th (Saturday)
Time: 6:30am – 8:30/9:00am
Location: Castro Valley High School (map)
Meet & Pickup: Castro Valley High School parking lot
Attire: Class A

Our charter organization, the Kiwanis, will be helping with this year’s Youth 2 Youth conference on Saturday, March 4. This annual conference is for middle school students of the San Ramon Valley and Castro Valley school districts. The Kiwanis will be serving breakfast for counselors and staff before the conference starts and Troop 805 has volunteered to help with this task as this is one of the ways we payback the Kiwanis for their support of our troop.

We need 6-8 scouts to help and will take scouts first come first served. All scouts of the troop are eligible to help with this outing. Also, if you are an Order of the Arrow member we are still looking for a Senior Patrol Leader for the outing.

Contact Mr Matsunaga (925-838-1617) if you have questions.

Troop Apparel Order

Hi Troop 805 Families,

If you would like a Class B shirt, troop jacket, or other troop apparel, please print the Apparel Order Form and complete page 2 of the order form. Submit your order and payment by Tuesday, February 7 at the Troop Meeting. If you miss the deadline, you must wait another year (and possibly two years for jackets due to the required minimum order quantity). We do not keep extra inventory on hand.

Also, we only have 3 beanies left! First pay, first serve; act fast if you want one!

If you are new to the troop, you will receive one free Class B shirt. On the order form, please write “New Scout” and note the size you want. Many scouts like to have backup shirt(s). If so, write the total number of shirts to order, but only pay the difference.

Yours in Scouting,
Mrs. Grace Dagen

Just north of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, Mount Tamalpais State Park rises majestically from the heart of Marin County. Its deep canyons and sweeping hillsides are cloaked with cool redwood forests, oak woodlands, open grasslands, and sturdy chaparral. The breathtaking panorama from Mount Tamalpais’s 2,571-foot peak includes the Farallon Islands 25 miles out to sea, the Marin County hills, San Francisco Bay, the East Bay, and Mount Diablo. On rare occasions, the snow-covered Sierra Nevada can be seen 150 miles away.

Join us Saturday, February 4th for Troop 805’s first hike of 2017… the Mount Tamalpais Hike! Round trip to the top of Mount Tamalpais (or “Mt. Tam”) is a distance of 8.5 miles with an elevation gain of 1,081’. Along the way to the stunning views at the top we will see the famous Mountain Theater and replicas of the “Gravity Cars” designed to transport visitors from the top of the mountain to the redwood-filled canyon of Muir Woods using only gravity and a brake!
