Located in the high coastal redwood forest along the Russian River, Camp Royaneh spans more than 345 acres of private Scout property. This unique setting offers an unforgettable week filled with hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, rock climbing, swimming, and even a full-fledged rodeo.
Scouts can experience a wide range of exciting activities, including black powder musket firing, rappelling, archery, and orienteering. The Scoutcraft area comes alive with expert instruction in both Eagle-required merit badges and popular outdoor skills like pioneering.
The camp’s rich biodiversity provides the perfect environment to explore nature, conservation, wildlife management, woodcraft, and plant science. Towering stands of mature redwoods and a mild coastal climate set the stage for adventure—whether you’re a new unit seeking excitement or a seasoned group looking to sharpen skills at a relaxed pace.
And when it’s time to cool off, the camp’s 300,000-gallon pool offers the perfect place to swim or unwind.
Date: July 21-27, 2024 (Sunday – Saturday) Location: Camp Chawanakee, 43485 Dinkey Creek Rd, Shaver Lake, CA 93664 Meet: 7:45 AM @ Sycamore Park and Ride Depart: 8:30 AM (192 Miles, ~3.5 Hours + stop for lunch) Arrive: ~1:30 PM at Camp Chawanakee Cost: – $795 (includes Camp cost of $695 and roundtrip bus cost of $100) – Sibling attending camp receives a $50 discount, bringing the total cost to $745 for each – Some Merit Badges require additional costs, which can be paid at the camp Trading Post
Camp Chawanakee offers a truly memorable outdoor experience for every Scoutand provides opportunities for Scoutsto to develop their unit and personal programs in a concentrated week-long full-time scouting achievement environment.
There is the Trail to First Class program for new and junior scouts as well as the opportunity for Scouts to earn their choice of over 40 merit badges. For the more accomplished Scouts, there are the Trails of Chawanakee, The 52′ climbing tower, rifle and shotgun shooting, sail boating, C.O.P.E. Course and overnight adventure outings.

Please RSVP to help our scouts plan for fun activities. Parents & Guardians will attend an information session to learn more about Troop 805 and the transition to Scouts BSA. They will meet with our Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, and Recruiting Chair.

Please support this annual National BSA service project where non-perishable foods are collected for local food banks. We will go door-to-door to hang informational flyers requesting donations on Saturday 11/4, and collect donations on Saturday 11/11. We also need scouts and adults to help staff our own collection site at the Woodranch Clubhouse. Scouts may choose to participate on either or both days and for 11/11, at either of the 2 service opportunities.
This is a great event to bring a friend (1st class requirement 10). Scouts will also earn service hours for rank advancement.
Patrol Competition– Scouts, friends, and family are encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations (Hover here for Suggestions) on 11/11, Saturday to the Woodranch Clubhouse between 9am – 11am. Let us know your Patrol’s name when dropping off, so the donations count toward your Patrol’s total. The Patrol with the most donated items will win each Patrol member a $5 Jamba Juice gift card.
